Caledonia: Spirit of Place (Fringe Festival 2018)
August 3 - September 1, 2018 PV August 2, 6-8 pm
August 4th (Saturday), 10-11am 'Meet the artist' talk and book signing with Ian Scott Massie. Limited number of free tickets to this seated even is available via Fringe box office.
Ian Scott will be talking about trying to capture the personality of the landscape - the “spirit of place” - and reading from his book Places of Pilgrimage.
Ian Scott Massie has fond childhood memories of Scotland. Subsequently he has come back for many sketching and painting visits. Ian’s atmospheric watercolours and original screen prints capture the spirit of Scotland: the skylines of town and cities, mesmerising vivid colours at sunset, and the subtle greys of rainy days. Julia Linstead, an artist from the Scottish Borders, sandblasts original designs on glass. Julia’s unique etchings mostly focus on floral patterns that are carefully selected according to the shape and colour of vessels and vases hand-blown by Jane Charles, with whom Juli collaborates.
