The inspiration for my porcelain work comes from the shapes and structures found in the botanical world. In particular I am inspired by the huge collection of plant, carpological and spirit specimens held in the Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Primarily for scientific research, these specimens have had a massive impact on my art. Selecting favourite elements from these pressed plants, I like to reference their surface patterns and texture, overlaying these with plant imagery to create my own hybrid vessels.
