Colin Robertson
As a painter I never tire of the display of light on the landscape and the difference it makes to its surrounding environment each day. Light silently changes and transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. I try to capture this in my paintings by spending a lot of time outdoors, often camping out to capture that very first morning light.
Colin started painting and drawing at the age of 24 after having had a variety of jobs. After his graduation from the Edinburgh Art College in 1989 he worked part-time for the Church of Scotland, running art classes for people who have faced challenges in their daily living. Currently, he still works with the Eskmills project. Colin lives in Whitehill, south of Edinburgh, where he has spent 10 years building his own house and studio from a derelict stable block, allowing him to paint larger pieces.
